Trip leaders
They are the people who can get a group of children to want to do the same thing for more than seven minutes. They also coordinate, observe, solve problems and help the whole family enjoy the trip better.
You can know a destination perfectly and still have no idea how to manage fifteen children after four hours on a bus. We need both: people who can organize, listen, improvise and keep a clear head when the itinerary develops a life of its own.
Training, protocols, safety and group dynamics. Plenty of people can play music and organize a game. Taking responsibility for a group of families while they travel is another story.
Trip leaders do not replace parents. They create activities, help children connect, support the group and make certain parts of the trip work much better. As a side effect, adults sometimes finish a conversation.
